Fifty metres of Sommer SC-Vector 0.8/3.7, a 75 ohm coax with a 0.8 mm solid copper core, a 3.7 mm gas-injected PE dielectric and a 6 mm PVC jacket, terminated BNC to BNC. Sommer rates the cable for 111 m at 3G-SDI, 75 m at 6G-SDI and 48 m at 12G-SDI (cable only, without connectors). At this length HD-SDI and 3G-SDI have plenty of margin and 6G-SDI sits inside Sommer's figure. 12G-SDI is just past the 48 m rating, so for 4K60 over 12G use a shorter cable or fibre. Typical uses are camera returns, programme feeds and multiview lines between a stage and the control position, where a single unbroken run is more reliable than joined patch cables.
