Blackmagic's Videohub 40x40 12G is a 2RU SDI router with 40 inputs and 40 outputs, all multi-rate 12G-SDI covering SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60, plus DVB-ASI. Any input can go to any output, or one source to several outputs at once, and every output is re-clocked. The front panel has 24 buttons, a search dial and a 5-inch colour LCD that shows live video of the sources, so routes can be set at the rack without a computer. In an OB or gallery it sits at the centre of the signal flow: cameras, replay, graphics and playback in; mixer inputs, multiviewers, recorders and encoders out. Routes can also be changed over Ethernet from Blackmagic's free Videohub software for Mac and Windows, from Videohub hardware panels or from third-party control systems.
