The Stream Deck XL is a 32-key USB control surface: each of its 8 x 4 keys is a small LCD that shows a custom icon or live status. It comes with a removable magnetic stand and is set up with Elgato's Stream Deck app on Windows or macOS, where keys can be grouped into folders and profiles and can fire single actions or multi-step Multi Actions.
In live production it is the usual hardware front end for Bitfocus Companion, which turns the keys into buttons for ATEM switchers, vMix, OBS and many other devices on the network. Thirty-two keys leave room for a full row of camera sources plus transitions, graphics and replay cues on one page, so an operator rarely has to dig through pages mid-show.
