Canon's second-generation 24-105mm L zoom keeps a constant f/4 aperture from wide to short telephoto. The optical stabiliser is rated at 4 stops, the 17 elements in 12 groups include four aspherical elements and Air Sphere Coating against flare, and a ring-type USM focuses down to 0.45 m (0.24x). It weighs 795 g and takes 77 mm filters.
On the Canon EOS C200 it mounts natively, giving one lens for wide establishing shots through to tight interview framing without a lens change. On Sony E-mount bodies it needs an EF-to-E adapter, and autofocus behaviour then depends on that adapter. It works well for documentary, corporate and event jobs where speed of operation matters more than a fast aperture.
