The gear
About this gear
A 50 m length of Category 5e cable with four twisted pairs of 24 AWG conductors under an overall foil screen (FTP). The jacket print lists ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA/EIA-568-B compliance and a CM (general-purpose communications) rating. Cat5e carries 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet over channels of up to 100 m, so a 50 m run leaves room for patch leads at both ends.
Use it for the long hops on a temporary network: a camera or PTZ position back to the switch, a commentary desk to the gallery, or an access point on the far side of a hall. The foil screen helps where the run shares a path with power and lighting looms, and the cable carries standard PoE for cameras and access points.
