The gear
About this gear
The Sennheiser A 1031-U is a passive omnidirectional UHF antenna for 450-960 MHz, with a BNC connector and 0 dB gain. Sennheiser specifies it for both receiving and transmitting, so it works on wireless microphone receivers and on in-ear monitor transmitters. It weighs about 150 g and has a 5/8-inch internal stand thread, with an adapter for 3/8-inch stands.
Because it picks up evenly all round, it suits rooms where presenters move behind, beside and in front of the antenna, or where the antenna has to sit in the middle of the space. Two of them make a diversity pair for one receiver, splitter or combiner zone. Mounted on a stand above head height and run on low-loss coax, they get reception out of the rack and into line of sight. The range covers both the EW-DX Q1-9 system and the XSW 2 E-band sets.

FAQ
Questions about this gear
No. It is a passive antenna with 0 dB gain and needs no DC supply.
The omnidirectional A 1031-U covers all directions evenly, which suits a central antenna position or performers all around it. A directional antenna such as the Sennheiser ADP UHF has more gain towards the stage and rejects signals from behind.
UHF systems with BNC antenna connectors between 450 and 960 MHz, including the Sennheiser EW-DX Q1-9 range (470.2-550 MHz). A diversity receiver needs two antennas.
It has a 5/8-inch internal thread for stands, and Sennheiser supplies an adapter for 3/8-inch threads.
