The gear

About this gear

The Sennheiser XSW 2-835 is a complete analogue UHF handheld set: an SKM 835-XSW transmitter with Sennheiser's dynamic cardioid 835 capsule and an EM-XSW 2 receiver. The receiver has a metal housing, true diversity reception on two external BNC antennas, an LCD for RF and audio levels, and both balanced XLR and unbalanced 6.3 mm jack outputs with a mic/line switch. This E-band version tunes 821–832 MHz and 863–865 MHz, with up to 12 compatible channels, a frequency scan and a SYNC button to pair the handheld on a free channel. The transmitter runs about 10 hours on two AA batteries.

It suits presenters, hosts, award shows, audience Q&A and live vocals. The receiver sits on a table next to the mixer, and the clamp fits the microphone on a standard stand. It runs alongside our other XSW 2 E-band channels, but XS Wireless parts do not pair with Sennheiser evolution wireless units.

FAQ

Questions about this gear

One EM-XSW 2 receiver with its two antennas and power supply, one SKM 835-XSW handheld transmitter, a clamp to put the microphone on a stand and two AA batteries.

Yes. It is on the same E-band as our other Sennheiser XSW 2 systems, so several channels can run side by side. Sennheiser specifies up to 12 compatible channels in one band; scan on site before the event.

No. Sennheiser states that XS Wireless and evolution wireless components do not work together, so transmitter and receiver must both be XS Wireless in the same band.

A balanced XLR and an unbalanced 6.3 mm jack, with a mic/line switch to match the mixer input.
