The Sony PXW-X70 is a compact handheld XDCAM camcorder, not a shoulder camera. It pairs a 1.0-type Exmor R CMOS sensor with a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 12x zoom covering 29–348 mm (35 mm equivalent, 16:9) at f/2.8–4.5. It records XAVC Long GOP Full HD in 10-bit 4:2:2 at up to 50 Mbps, plus AVCHD and DV, to two SD slots with relay or simultaneous recording. UHD needs Sony's paid 4K upgrade licence.
A three-step ND filter, 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs and a detachable handle with two XLR inputs make it a self-contained single-operator camera. It suits conferences, interviews, news-style and event coverage where one person needs zoom range, proper audio and a direct SDI feed to a switcher.
