About this gear
The Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036) is the first-generation version of Tamron's f/2.8 standard zoom for full-frame Sony E-mount. It has 15 elements in 12 groups, a 9-blade aperture and an RXD stepping motor, focuses to 0.19 m at 28 mm (0.39 m at 75 mm) and weighs 550 g. Tamron has ended sales of this model, which was succeeded by the VXD G2.
A constant f/2.8 from wide to short telephoto makes it a dependable single lens for interviews, events and run-and-gun shooting in mixed light, and the close focus at 28 mm helps with product and detail shots. It has no optical stabilisation, so rely on the camera's IBIS, and its 67 mm filters are shared with Tamron's 17-28mm and 70-300mm.
