The gear

About this gear

Starlink's Standard Kit pairs an electronic phased-array antenna (594 x 383 mm, 2.9 kg, 3.2 kg on its kickstand) with the Gen 3 router. The dish has a 110° field of view, an IP67 rating, works from −30 °C to 50 °C and draws 75 to 100 W on average. The tri-band Wi-Fi 6 router covers up to 297 m² and has two latching Ethernet LAN ports.

It gives an internet uplink where there is no fixed line: outdoor events, remote venues, or a backup WAN beside fibre or 4G. In bypass mode the router hands the connection to your own router or bonding device. On standard plans IPv4 sits behind carrier-grade NAT, so on-site encoders should push streams out (SRT caller, RTMP) rather than wait for inbound connections.

FAQ

Questions about this gear

A clear view of the sky across its 110° field of view. Trees, buildings or roof edges in the way cause dropouts; the Starlink app checks for obstructions during setup.

From mains through the supplied power supply (100–240 V). The dish averages 75–100 W, so size any generator or battery supply for that load.

Yes, through the router's Ethernet ports or by enabling bypass mode. On standard plans IPv4 uses carrier-grade NAT, so plan for outbound streaming (SRT caller, RTMP).

The dish is IP67 rated and Starlink quotes snow melt of up to 40 mm per hour. Very heavy rain can still reduce throughput.
