The gear

About this gear

The RS 5 is DJI's 2026 single-operator gimbal, with a 3.0 kg tested payload, automatic axis locks and native vertical shooting. It weighs about 1.19 kg with plates; the BG33 grip (2150 mAh) gives up to 14 hours standby, measured balanced and stationary, and charges in about an hour on a 65 W PD charger. It has RSA/NATO ports, a 1/4"-20 hole, a cold shoe and two USB-C ports for camera control and accessories.

The Combo adds the Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module, which attaches magnetically and follows people, vehicles or objects from 0.5 to 10 m, and the Electronic Briefcase Handle with joystick, trigger and record button for low-angle work. It suits FX3-class and mirrorless setups for walk-and-talks, events and solo shoots.

DJI quotes up to 14 hours standby with the BG33 grip, measured balanced, level and stationary; moving shots use more. A full charge takes about an hour on a 65 W PD charger.

No. You pick the subject on the gimbal touchscreen, with the trigger or by hand gesture. DJI rates tracking from 0.5 to 10 m in light above 20 lux.

No. DJI says the RS 5 Electronic Briefcase Handle must not be used on the RS 4, RS 4 Pro or older models.
