About this gear
This drum holds 150 m of armoured OM3 duplex fibre: two 50/125 µm multimode strands with LC/UPC connectors at each end, protected by steel tape under a low-smoke, zero-halogen jacket. At 150 m it sits comfortably inside the 300 m that 10GBASE-SR allows on OM3.
A common job is a 10G backbone between two switches across an arena or exhibition hall, or a gigabit link out to a remote camera, encoder or ticketing position. Fit 850 nm multimode SFP or SFP+ optics at both ends; single-mode modules, in a switch or an SDI converter, need single-mode fibre instead.

Questions about this gear
Multimode 850 nm optics with LC duplex ports, such as 1000BASE-SX SFPs or 10GBASE-SR SFP+ modules. Both ends of the link must use the same type.
Not with our Blackmagic Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G units: they carry single-mode NovaStar SFPs, so pair those with the Percon single-mode drum. It does work with SDI or Ethernet converters fitted with multimode 850 nm optics at both ends.
The two fibres are marked A and B: one transmits, one receives. If the link stays dark, swap the pair at one end and make sure both SFPs are multimode.
Elfcam rates it for indoor and outdoor use, with steel-tape armour for crush and rodent resistance. Keep dust caps on unmated connectors.
