About this gear
The AVMATRIX UC2018 is a small USB capture device with one 3G-SDI input and one HDMI 1.4a input. It detects which input is active and captures that source at up to 1080p60 as uncompressed YUY2 video, at up to 200MB/s over USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C. Audio comes from the embedded SDI or HDMI signal or from a 3.5 mm line input. It is bus-powered (3.5W) and uses the standard UVC and UAC classes, so Windows, macOS and Linux need no drivers.
On a production it turns an SDI feed, such as a switcher aux or a camera output, into a webcam-style source on a laptop. That makes it a quick way to get programme video into OBS, a Zoom or Teams call with remote guests, or a backup recording machine.
