About this gear
The Elgato HD60 X is a USB capture device with an HDMI 2.0 input and pass-through output. It captures up to 4K30, 1440p60 or 1080p60, including 10-bit HDR capture up to 1080p60 on Windows, while passing up to 4K60 HDR10, 1440p120 or 1080p240 with VRR to the player's monitor. It is a UVC device, so Windows and macOS use it without drivers, and a 3.5 mm line input lets you mix in commentary or chat audio.
The usual job is a console or gaming PC feeding both a screen and a capture computer running OBS or Elgato's own software, for streams, VOD recording or an observer feed. Elgato has discontinued the HD60 X in favour of the 4K S, but it remains a straightforward 1080p60 capture source.
