The gear

About this gear

DJI SDR Transmission is a 1080p60 wireless video link built on software-defined radio rather than Wi-Fi, using the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands plus 5.47-5.725 GHz DFS channels. DJI quotes up to 2 km under CE rules (3 km FCC) in Control mode with Broadcast mode off, 20 Mbps H.264 and 35 ms latency at 1080p60, excluding camera and display. The transmitter takes SDI or HDMI; the receiver outputs SDI, HDMI and USB-C.

Each unit weighs about 145 g and runs from an NP-F battery or USB-C power, and on an RS 4, RS 4 Pro or RS 3 Pro gimbal the transmitter can be powered by the gimbal. Broadcast mode sends one feed to any number of receivers, which helps when a director, a client monitor and the switcher all need the same camera. A phone can also connect straight to the transmitter over Wi-Fi.
