About this gear
The ATEM SDI Extreme ISO is a desktop live production switcher with eight 3G-SDI inputs, each with standards conversion and re-sync, so cameras running different HD formats can be mixed together up to 1080p60. It has 4 SDI aux outputs (any of them can carry the 16-view multiview), 4 upstream keyers with advanced chroma, 2 downstream keyers, 2 DVEs and 2 media players. A built-in Fairlight mixer adds EQ and dynamics.
Its main draw is ISO recording: it writes nine H.264 files, the eight clean camera feeds plus programme, to USB disks and saves a DaVinci Resolve project so the live cut can be re-edited afterwards. A hardware streaming engine sends the programme out over Ethernet via RTMP, with phone tethering available as a backup link. Podcasts, panel talks and compact esports shows are its usual home.
